Bleeding Wall
Bleeding Wall
wood, burgundy pigment paint 850 cm x 240 cm x 185 cm
Sculpture as design and design as art create a visceral experience for the viewer in this powerful 3d sculpture. The large size overwhelms the observer as they come face to face with a living expression of an inanimate form.
Initially, it was planned to be a kinetic work. Wooden blocks painted in burgundy, moving slowly, were supposed to create movements resembling a wave. Since the mechanisms became cumbersome and complex, it was decided to not use the kinetics and make it static.
The huge velvet coloured sculpture in contrast with the white room creates a feeling of unreality of what is happening. The viewer involuntarily begins to look around him through the prism of this velvet colour.
